Haut-Sénégal et Niger

Upper Senegal and Niger is located in Western Africa, the territory called French Sudan after WWI, and today called Mali. It has been under French rule since 1880. From 1895, the territories within French West Africa used common bankotes issued by Banque du Senegal. In 1917, low denomination emergency notes were issued within each territory using the same design but different colors and local colony names overprinted.
